We(TCNMedia) adapted a program called CCL [Creative Commons License] to enable members to use our photographs for free provided that the original photographer is credited, and build upon and complement the works of others who have created public licenses for a variety of creative works. Creative Commons license are based on copyright. So it applies to all works that are protected by copyright law.

CCL helps people dedicate their creative works to the public domain — or preserve their copyright while licensing them as free for certain uses, under particular conditions. Creative Commons provides free tools that let authors, scientists, artists, and educators easily mark their creative work with the freedoms they want it to entail.

Every picture posted by our journalists and photographers will be protected under the CCL copyright watermarks, which can be used depending on the convenience of the photo taker. We consider the security of our photos copyrights and the suggestions from our members crucial and will try our best to meet the needs of our members.

1. How to use photos legally?

   For online works, photographers add a Creative Commons license to their work by selecting the license that suits their preferences. Once the license is selected, we generate the copyright watermark and a statement that the work is licensed under a Creative Commons license. The watermark is designed to act as a notice to people who come in contact with the work that it is licensed under the applicable Creative Commons license, and is marked on every online photo unless it has been purchased. If you do not intend to purchase the photo, then the only form of the photo that is available to you is the online form with the CCL watermark.

   The key terms of the core suite of Creative Commons licenses are: Attribution, Noncommercial, No Derivatives and Share Alike. These license elements are concisely described as follows:

   Attribution	You may copy, distribute, display, and perform the copyrighted work — and derivative works based upon it — but only if you give credit the way the photo owner requests.
   Noncommercial	You may copy, distribute, display, and perform the work — and derivative works based upon it — but for noncommercial purposes only.
   No Derivative Works	You may copy, distribute, display, and perform only verbatim copies of the work, not derivative works based upon it.
   Share Alike	You may distribute derivative works only under a license identical to the license that governs the work.

   
   
2. How to select elements of the CCL for your photo?

   CCL enables photographers to dedicate their creative works to the public domain — or preserve their copyright while licensing them as free for certain uses, under particular conditions. Creative Commons provides free tools that let you easily mark your creative work with the freedoms you want it to entail. Creative Commons licenses give you the ability to dictate how others may exercise your copyright rights—such as the right of others to copy your work, make derivative works or adaptations of your work, to distribute your work and/or make money from your work.

   You can choose a set of conditions you wish to apply to your work while uploading your picture to your gallery. Keep in mind the CCL terms only apply to the online photos which are not being purchased.

   If a user wishes to use a photo for free, without the copyright watermarks on it, he/she must contact the customer center (82-2-724-6410) and get permission to do so.

   The following are examples of the set of conditions that can be used on your photos.

   	Attribution This license lets others distribute, remix, tweak, and build upon your work, even commercially, as long as they credit you for the original creation. This is the most accommodating of licenses offered, in terms of what others can do with your works licensed under Attribution.
   	Noncommercial This license lets others remix, tweak, and build upon your work non-commercially.
   	No Derivative Works This license allows for redistribution, commercial and non-commercial, as long as it is passed along unchanged and in whole.
   	Attribution Share Alike This license lets others remix, tweak, and build upon your work even for commercial reasons, as long as they credit you and license their new creations under the identical terms. This license is often compared to open source software licenses. All new works based on yours will carry the same license, so any derivatives will also allow commercial use.
   	Non-commercial No Derivatives This license allows for redistribution, as long as it is passed along unchanged and for non-commercial purposes.
   	Attribution Non-commercial Share Alike This license lets others remix, tweak, and build upon your work non-commercially, as long as they credit you and license their new creations under the identical terms. Others can download and redistribute your work just like the nc-nd license, but they can also translate, make remixes, and produce new stories based on your work. All new work based on yours will carry the same license, so any derivatives will also be non-commercial in nature.
